Stefan works as an experience designer and game developer at the micro studio waku waku and as a researcher at Zurich University of the Arts. He is also part of a group which aims to help Swiss game developers market their games internationally. Currently, he works on a narrative detective game for museums which uses the player’s locations to drive the story.
Stefan’s research focuses on dominant games. These are games which incorporate coercion, pain, lies and other negative incentives in such a way that they turn into motivational factors. He applies this practice towards own game prototypes like “Shock Fighter – A Fighting Game for Masochists” and “Kurt – A Real Life Simulator” which use electric shocks and shut-out mechanics. Stefan holds Master degrees in computer science and game design.
